Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain has attached importance to increase interaction with Bangladesh in order to "resolve any differences" between the two countries.

He also emphasised the need for increased efforts towards exchange of trade and cultural cooperation, a press release of Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad said.

The comments were made while welcoming the newly appointed high commissioner of Bangladesh, Tarik Ahsan, when Ahsan presented his credentials.

Welcoming the high commissioner, President Mamnoon Hussain expressed hope that relation between Bangladesh and Pakistan will be improved further.

Conveying the regards of Bangladesh President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Tarik Ahsan briefed the Pakistan president on the achievements of Bangladesh in economic and social domain in recent years.

Earlier, on his arrival at Aiwan-e-Sadr (President's Office premises) in a traditional horse-driven carriage escorted by a cavalry, the high commissioner was given a Guard of Honour by a contingent of the President's Body Guard.
