Indonesian police killed three terrorists and arrested another one on Wednesday (December 21) during a raid on a rented house outside Jakarta, where they also found bombs possibly meant for a suicide attack.

"The three killed terrorists resisted arrest during the raid by throwing a bomb and firing shots at police. The bomb didn't go off. Police also found a bigger bomb in the house," police spokesman Brigadier General Rikwanto told Metro TV in a live telephone interview.

The arrested terrorist was identified only as Adam.

The raid took place in a densely populated residential area called Puri Serpong 2 in South Tangerang, Banten province.

BG Rikwanto said the Detachment 88 anti-terror squad is stepping up raids ahead of year end festivities.
