WhatsApp goes offline to fight India rumours

WhatsApp took out full-page advertisements in Indian newspapers yesterday offering "easy tips" to identify fact from fiction after a slew of recent murders spurred by hoaxes shared on its platform. More than 20 people were lynched in India over child abduction rumours in the last two months.
