3,000 flee Myanmar clashes to China

At least 3,000 people have fled into China due to fighting in northern Myanmar, Beijing said yesterday, as the death toll from clashes between the military and ethnic insurgents rose to 10. Locals near the Chinese border in Myanmar's northern state of Shan said they were fleeing heavy fighting between the army and four armed ethnic groups, including the powerful Kachin Independence Army.
