His wife Shahanara Wazed, also a director of DFL and accused in the case, was granted bail.

They are among eight accused named in a FIR recorded with Khulna thana on August 7 in connection with the alleged misappropriation.

Saiful Islam, son of Wazed Ali Biswas and Managing Director of DFL, and five high officials of the head office and the regional office of NBL are also FIR-named accused.

Assistant Vice President of NBL Zahidul Huq Chowdhury is the complainant.

The five FIR-named accused bank officials are Executive Vice Presidents Narayanchandra Karmakar and Mohammod Shajahan, Vice President ATM Selimuzzaman Khan of NBL head office and Vice Presidents Shafiqullah Khan and Mohammad Borhanuddin of its Khulna regional office.

All of them are now under suspension for allegedly abetting the misappropriation by the MD and two Directors of DFL in the name of purchasing raw materials for shrimp cultivation and export.

The MD of DFL and the five bank officials are absconding, Khulna thana Officer-in-charge said on Sunday.
