'Very important clues' to murder of AL, JP leaders found: Bagerhat SP

Amol Roy was murdered on July 12 at his house at Faltita village under Fakirhat thana.

He was an witness in a rape case in which Zakir and Mushfique are FIR-named accused.

They are also accused in another case in connection with murder of Bahirdia UP Chairman and AL leader Atahar Ali.

On the same day, police prayed for more seven days' remand for quizzing them in the case but it was rejected by Magistrate Matiur Rahman as police could not show necessary papers.

Bagerhat Police Superintendent Mesbahuddin told The Daily Star that the terrorists have given 'very important clues' required for arrest of their associates and recovery of arms. We are continuing hunt for 'others and arms', the SP said expressing his hope to make a major breakthrough in next one week.

Meanwhile, Khulna district and city units of Jatiya Perty have demanded exemplary punishment to Mushfique, also an FIR-named accused in Shaikh Abul Kashem murder case.

Kashem, president of city unit of JP, shot dead in 1995 in front of Khulna thana.
