Pirates kidnap 10 fishermen, toss 13 into Meghna

Nazir Ahmmed, one of the survivors, said a gang of 30 to 40 armed pirates attacked five fishing boats as those were returning from the sea.

They beat the fishermen and looted fish and fishing nets worth about Tk 5 lakh. Thirteen of the fishermen were thrown into the river.

The fishermen thrown into the river are still missing, he said.

When contacted, Tajumuddin police said they heard about the incident, but no case was filed.
