Clash over trifle matter: 50 hurt in B'baria

At least 50 persons were injured in a clash between to rival groups at Durgapur village under Ashugonj upazila on Saturday.

Two villagers at Durgapur village started altercation over a trifle matter, according to eye-witnesses, police and hospital sources.

Ultimately, the altercation turned into a clash between two groups of rivals. One group was led by Idris Mia and the other group was led by Md Martoz Ali. They attacked each other with lethal weapons and locked in a clash early in the morning at Durgapur village. The clash lasted till noon where 50 persons were injured, 10 of them in critical condition. Twenty four persons were admitted to Brahmanbaria Sadar Hospital. Police from Ashuganj thana rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.

No case was filed till filling of this report. Additional police force was deployed on the spot to avert further clash.
