One person was missing as an overcrowded country boat capsized mid-stream of the Ghagot river at Gideri sluice gate ghat (terminal) on Saturday.

The small boat was ferrying passengers during the miahap. Others swam ashore.

According to the eye-witnesses, the ferry boat was plying between Gideri Sluice gate ghat and Konerpara ghat with about 30 passengers on board. While it was crossing main stream, the boat suddenly capsized due to high velocity of current. One Khalil Mia, 40, drifted down the heavy current. The remaining persons however swam ashore.
