All against drug in Satkhira

Hundreds of students and youths, joined by the elite and people from all walks of life marched the streets with colourful banners, festoons and placards with slogans against drug and smoking.

They chanted slogans like "we want drug free society," "launched movement against drug" and "we are against drug."

State Minister for Water Resources Gautom Chakrabarty and Deputy Commissioner AYM Akramul Haq led the procession, which was part of a day-long anti-drug campaign programme on October 30.

People lined up on both sides as the colourful procession passed through the main streets.

The programme included a discussion meeting and a literary competition and was rounded off through giving prizes to the winners in the competition.

The discussion meeting was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner while the State Minister was the chief quest and Police Superintendent Rafiqul Islam Satkhiera was the special guest.

The speakers included Maulana Abdul Khaleq MP, Habibul Islam Habib MP Kazi Alauddin MP, Riasat Ali MP, Gazi Nazrul Islam MP, Abdul Jalil, Advocate Syed Iftekhar Ali, Pourasava Chairman Sheikh Ashraful Haq, Modasserul Haq Huda, Abdul Hadi and Abdul Alim.
