20 rescued from traffickers

Two traffickers were also arrested from the spot.

Paramilitary Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) rescued them from village Jugikhali in Kalaroa upazila. BDR also arrested two traffickers named Bimal Kumar and Bidhan Chandra arrested from the spot.

BDR sources said, acting on a secret information BDR rescued them when they were getting down from a night coach which arrived from Barisal at about 5 am on the day.

The rescued were identified as Dilip, Nibaran, Ratan, Sunkesh, Bimal, Bidhan, Majumdar, Malaz, Rabindra, Sukh Ranjan, Paritosh, Raman, Manibala, Marubana, Suniti Rani, Shefali, Diba Rani and three children.

They are inhabitants of villages Kuriana, Adman Kati and West Kaparkati under Nesarabat upazila in Pirojpur district.

While talking to journalists, they disclosed that they were going to India illegally. The arrested traffickers collected them from their village homes for trafficking them them.

BDR handed them over to Kalaroa police. A case was lodged with Kalaroa thana.
