Road mishaps kill 7 in Sylhet, Chittagong
Our staff correspondent reported from Sylhet that five persons were killed when a trailer of a construction company fell on an autorickshaw on Sylhet-Tamabil Road Tuesday evening.
The mishap took place near the Asampara Asrayan Project under Jaintapur upazila.
The trailer was on its way to Jafflong from Sylhet. The autorickshaw was going to Jaintapur from Jafflong.
All the five died on the spot. Three of them have been identified. They are Tapash Shaha, 35, manager of a coal import firm in Jafflong; Misbahuddin, 35 of Khagra village in Gowainghat upazila and autorickshaw driver Saiful Islam, 30, hailing from Kalmakanda in Netrokona district. The rest two were shoe traders but could not be identified.
Police arrested the trailer driver Ibrahim.
The bodies were sent to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue.
Our Staff Correspondent reported from Chittagong that two persons were killed and at least seven injured in an on-head collision between a bus and a truck at Mirer Sarai Tuesday afternoon.
Police and witnesses said, two persons died on the spot when the Chittagong- bound bus of Shahi Paribahan from Laxmipur collided head on with the truck on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway.
Identity of the dead and the injured could not be known.
The truck managed to flee.
