Three to die in rape, murder case in Rangpur

The convicts are Hafizur,48, his wife Rezeka Khatoon, 38, and Mohsin Ali, 50, of Badarganj upazila.

The judge of Women and Children Repression Control Tribunal, Rangpur, Molla Mostafa Kamal delivered the verdict after examining 15 prosecution witnesses and one defence witness.

Rezeka called victim Kamala Begum, 20 to a lonely place where accused Hafizur and Mohsin raped and strangled her.

In a bid to divert the incident, the accused put insecticide in the mouth of the deceased and shifted the body to a local health complex saying that she had committed suicide.

Rezeka brought Kamala to her house on the previous night by giving a false assurance of marriage.

Advocates Badrul Islam, Chunnu and AKM Nazrul Islam conducted the prosecution case while advocate Abdul Haque Pramanik appeared for the defence.
