Four sons, 15 'followers' of Charmonai Pir granted interim bail till Dec 7
Granting the bail, the HC asked the 19 accused under Speedy Trial Act to appear before the lower court on or before December 7, sources here said on Thursday.
Salam Rari, local BNP leader and former chairman of Charmonair Union Parishad, had filed the case with Barisal Kotwali thana against the case on November 11.
Barisal Kotwali police on Tuesday filed charge sheet against the four sons and 15 relatives and followers of Charmonai Pir under the Speedy Trial Act for snatching fire arms and money from Salam Rari and desecrating a mosque.
The four sons are Charmonai UP Chairman Syed Rezaul Karim, Syed Ziaul Karim, Syed Faizul Karim, Syed Mosaddek, Billah Madani.
It has been alleged that the 19 attacked Salam Rari inside the Biswaser Hat mosque and snatched away his revolver and money on November 11.
It has also been alleged that the attackers entered the mosque wearing shoes and also assaulted Rari.
The attackers demanded Tk 20,000 toll from the Tk 50,000 grant from BCC Mayor Majibur Rahman Sarwar to the mosque committee fund.
Among the accused, two were arrested earlier. They are Abdul Barek and Harun Bepari, followers of the Pir and students of the Charmonai Madrasha.
