11 killed, 30 injured in road mishaps in Natore, Comilla
Quoting police, a correspondent reported from Natore that at least three persons were killed on the spot and over 20 injured when a Chapainawabganj-bound bus from Chittagong hit a standing truck from behind near Manikpur bridge on the Banpara-Hatikumrul highway in Baraigram upazila at about 4:30 am on Saturday.
The dead were identified as Ismail Hossain, 40, of Potenga, Chittagong; bus driver Kamruzzaman, 36, and helper Renu Sheikh, 40.
The injured people were admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital and Baraigram Health Complex.
A correspondent reported from Comilla that eight people were killed and 10 injured in two road accidents at Nuritala in Chandina on the Comilla-Dhaka highway on Friday.
The first mishap took place at about 2 pm when a Dhaka-bound truck hit a Dhaka-bound bus from behind, killing three on the spot and injuring nine. One of the dead was identified as Maimona Begum, 60, wife of Hazi Abdul Karim of Jourikhula village in Kachua upazila in Chandpur district.
All the injured persons were taken to Chandina Upazila Health Complex. The killer river sped away with the truck.
In the evening, five people were killed on the spot when a Dhaka-bound taxicab (No. Dhaka Metro-PA-11-3998 from Comilla collided head on with a Comilla-bound bus.
Two of the dead were women but none could be identified. The lone injured person was admitted to
Chandina health complex.
Police recovered the badly damaged taxicab. The bus driver escaped.
