Puja Mandap 'occupied' by Jamaat leaders in Satkhira
The activists led by Jamaat leaders Nafiz Shahidullah and his brother-in- law Liton occupied the mandap on five decimal land, claiming that the land belongs to them, police said quoting local people.
Hindus in the area had been performing their religious rites at the mandap for the last 50 years, local people told police.
Tension is prevailing in the area.
Local leaders of the Hindu-Boddhya Khristian Oikya Parisahd visited the village on Monday and condemned the incident.
Biswajit Sadhu, president of Satkhira district Hindu Boddhya Khristian Oikya Parishad in a statement condemned the incident and demanded immediate return of the property to the puja committee and arrest of the culprits.
