Pro-AL, BNP teachers join hands to rout Jamaat
All 13 posts captured in IUTA polls
Teachers supporting ruling BNP and its arch rival opposition Awami League joined hands and routed Jamaat-e-Islami in the Islamic University Teachers Association (IUTA) election held on Monday.
The 'Oakya Panel' (united panel), supported by AL and BNP, won all the 13 posts, defeating Jamaat-backed Green Panel.
Prof Ashraf Ali was elected president and Prof Alinoor Rahman general secretary in the polls held peacefully.
Other office bearers are Saiful Islam (vice-president) Jahangir Alam (joint secretary) and Ainul Islam (treasurer).
The elected members include Tahir Ahmed, Abdul Malek, Moniruzzaman, Sahid Ahmed Choudhury, M Moniruzzaman, Zakir Hossain, Abdul Malek Munwar and Hasanat Ali.
