People nab one more accused, allege police 'inaction'
Suruz was killed by miscreants at Charitabari village under Kamalabari union in Aditmari upazila on Sunday.
Khorshed was caught by people at Kakina village under Kaligonj upazila in the early hours of Thursday and handed over to Aditmari police, raising the number of people now in custody in the murder case to six.
All the six were caught by local people and handed over to police, local people said and alleged a "mysterious inaction" by law enforcers since the murder.
Of the six, three including Khorshed are accused in the case and three are suspects, police said. Two others accused are Hariz and Kamruzzaman.
Four of them were produced before court, which placed Hariz on four days' remand and sent the rest three to jail.
Police said Khorshed was interrogated at Aditmari thana on Wednesday in presence of Lalmonirhat Police Superintendent.
Khurshid confessed to his involvement in the murder, police said but declined to elaborate for the sake of investigation.
The local people said tension is prevailing in Kamlabari union as supporters of Suruz and his political rivals are in a stand-off situation. A clash may erupt any time, they said.
The local people alleged that police reached the spot of the killing about 10 hours after being informed.
The slain AL leader's wife Halima also alleged that police are not playing their due role to arrest the killers.
Local leaders of Awami League say it is a political murder.
Meanwhile, freedom fighters of Lalmonirhat arranged a Milad Mahfil at Aditmari for peace and salvation of the soul of Suruz.
