8 killed in Manikganj road mishap

Eight people were killed on the spot and three injured when an autotempo collided head-on with a bus on the Dhaka-Aricha highway at Bhatbaur in the Sadar upazila yesterday morning.

The autotempo was going to Manikganj from Tora. The bus (Dhaka Metro-Ga-02-0342) belonged to

Hoq Enterprize, police said.

The dead have been identified as tempoo driver Roton of Joyra village; Khorshed, 25, Shahidul, 25 and Milon, 22 of Dautia; Ajam, 27 and Digha, 50, of Tora; Ranjit, 25, of Multan and Habul, 26, of Patrail village in the Sadar upazila.

All the victims were passengers of the autotempoo.

Seriously injured Rafija, 15 of Tora village, Somiya, a -class five student of Manikganj S K Government Girl's High School and Sabita, a student of Manikganj Government Mohila College, were admitted to Manikganj Sadar hospital.

Later, Rafija was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in a critical condition.

A case was lodged with Manikganj Sadar police.

Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Bari and Police Superintendent Mosharaf Hossain Bhuyan visited the spot immediately after the accident.

Police seized the vehicles.
