Garo students protest at Mymensingh

Bangladesh Garo Chhatra Sangatha (BGCS) and Garo Students Union (GSU) jointly brought out a procession and held a rally in the town yesterday protesting the killing of indigenous youth Piren Slan in police firing in Madhupur forest recently.

The procession was brought out from in front of Garo Hostel at Kanchijuly.

The processionists paraded the main thoroughfares of the town and held the rally in front of Mymensingh Press Club.

Central president of BGCS Rana Devid Chesim, its local unit vice-president Tara Nokrek and assistant secretary Prosad Chambugong; and GSU local unit president and organising secretary Badhan Chiran and Bepul Rema addressed the rally.

They said the movement of indigenous people will continue till scrapping of the Eco Park project in Modhupur and other demands of Garo people are met.
