Pourasabha acting chairman sent to jail
Acting Chairman and four ward commissioners of Monirimpur Pourasava in Jessore district, accused in a corruption case, were sent to Jail on Sunday as a court rejected their bail prayers.
They are Acting Chairman Md Abdus Sattar and ward commissioners Asaduzzaman, Sakhawat Hossain, Makbul Hossain and Ibrahim Hossain.
Amjad Hossain filed a petition with Jessore District Anti- corruption Bureau charging them with "misappropriation" of Pourasabha money.
The court issued warrants for their arrest after an investigation report was submitted on Saturday.
The case was filed with Monirampur thana in November last year, court sources said.
