Shantu Larma to address Modhupur rally today
Parbattya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity chief Jotirindria Bodhipriya Larma alias Shantu Larma will address a rally today at Joynagachha village where a Garo tribesman was shot dead by police on January 3.
Piren Slan was killed during a demonstration protesting construction of a boundary wall for the proposed Eco Park in Modhupur forest.
The killing sparked protests by the indigenous people who are opposing creation of the planned Eco Park there, saying that the park will displace them from their ancestral homes and destroy the ecology.
