528 flights cancelled at Dhaka airport in 17 days due to US-Israel war on Iran

Airspace closures across seven Middle Eastern countries disrupt air travel

A total of 528 flights operated by different airlines have been cancelled to and from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport over the past 17 days following airspace closures across several Middle Eastern countries.

Authorities said the airspace was closed by Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, the UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, and Jordan amid the security situation in the Middle East on February 28, according to a release issued by the authorities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport today.

Of the total, 28 flights were cancelled on Sunday (March 16), it added.

The cancelled flights on Sunday included two flights of Kuwait Airways to Kuwait; eight flights of Air Arabia to Sharjah in the UAE; two flights of Gulf Air to Bahrain; four flights of Qatar Airways to Qatar; two flights of Emirates Airlines to the United Arab Emirates; four flights of Jazeera Airways to Kuwait; four flights of Flydubai to the UAE; and two flights of US-Bangla Airlines.

Earlier, 23 flights were cancelled on February 28; followed by 40 on March 1; 46 on March 2; 39 on March 3; 32 on March 4; 36 on March 5; 34 on March 6; 28 on March 7; 28 on March 8; 33 on March 9; 32 on March 10; 27 on March 11; 28 on March 12; 25 on March 13; 26 on March 14; and 23 on March 15.
