Civil aviation minister orders immediate mosquito control drive at airports
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam today directed authorities to launch immediate mosquito control measures and improve cleanliness standards at airports across the country.
The instructions were issued during a review meeting on the implementation of the Annual Development Programme (ADP) for the 2025-26 fiscal year, held at the ministry’s conference room, according to a press release.
The minister stressed the need to improve passenger comfort and safety, calling for urgent spraying of mosquito repellents in and around airport facilities. She also instructed officials to maintain strict hygiene standards at all airports.
State Minister for Civil Aviation M Rashiduzzaman Millat raised concerns over a shortage of luggage trolleys at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, saying the issue must be resolved urgently to improve service quality. He emphasised the need to procure 1,000 new trolleys as soon as possible.
Both the minister and the state minister urged stakeholders to work in coordination to ensure passengers can travel without harassment and directed officials to complete ongoing development projects within stipulated deadlines.
Among those present at the meeting were Secretary Nasreen Jahan and Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh, Air Vice Marshal Md Mostafa Mahmud Siddique, along with other senior officials.
