AK Azad re-elected chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank

AK Azad has been re-elected as chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC at the bank's 389th board meeting on Wednesday.

Azad, a prominent industrialist and businessman in the country, is the managing director of Ha-Meem Group and a former president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

In the same meeting, Mohammed Younus and Mohiuddin Ahmed were re-elected as vice-chairmen of the bank, said a press release.

Of them, Younus, who is also a renowned industrialist and businessman, has a long experience of more than three decades in paper, IT, insurance, merchant bank, agriculture, rubber, fabrics and cold storage trade industries.

He is the managing director of Sobhan Ice and Cold Storage, Younus Cold Storage, Ananta Paper Mills, Younus Paper Mills, Younus Fine Paper Mills, Younus Spinning Mills, Younus Newsprint Mills and Younus Offset Paper Mills.

He is also managing director of Galaxy Flying Academy and vice-president of the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries.

Ahmed, the other re-elected vice-chairman, is proprietor of Rupsha Trading Corporation and Mohiuddin Auto House as well as chairman of Pacific Automobiles.

He has a long business experience of more than four decades.

He is the vice-chairman of Shahjalal Islami Bank Securities and a sponsor shareholder of Islami Insurance Bangladesh.
