Int’l research competition held in Dhaka

With a view to creating better investment management, the CFA Society Bangladesh completed the local final round of the “CFA Institute Research Challenge Bangladesh” last month.

Team Stratocasters from the IBA, Dhaka University and team Silence of the Lambdas from DU’s finance department won the Championship and Runners-up titles respectively in the competition held on November 26 at a local five-star hotel in Dhaka.

Dhaka Stock Exchange Managing Director KAM Majedur Rahman, IDLC Finance Group Managing Director and CEO Arif Khan, CFA Institute Head of Education of Asia Pacific Countries Neil Govier, Asian Tiger Capital Partners Group Chairman Ifty Islam, among others, handed over the prizes to the winning teams.

The first-ever CFA Institute Research Challenge in Bangladesh was sponsored by LankaBangla Securities Limited and BRAC EPL Stock Brokerage Limited.

The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global competition that tests the equity research and valuation, investment report writing, and presentation skills of university students. This annual educational initiative promotes best practices in equity research among the next generation of analysts through hands-on mentoring and intensive training in company analysis and presentation skills.
