Seylon Tea celebrates Chattogram’s heritage

Seylon Tea has launched “SEYLON Amar Shahar Chattogram” at the Navy Convention Centre in Chattogram today, celebrating the port city’s history, heritage, culture, food, lifestyle and memories.

The campaign seeks to rediscover the distinctive stories of Bangladesh’s cities and bring them to audiences across the country, with Chattogram chosen as its first destination.

As part of the initiative, Seylon Tea introduced specially designed packaging inspired by different elements of Chattogram’s history and culture. The campaign also featured a digital contest inviting residents to share personal memories, experiences and stories about the city.

Weekly winners were selected from the participants, while mega-prize winners were chosen through a lottery among the weekly winners and awarded at the gala event.

The launch featured immersive presentations and installations showcasing old Chattogram’s history, architecture and heritage, as well as stories of its port and railway. The event also highlighted the city’s culture, music, lifestyle and diverse culinary traditions.

Alongside well-known landmarks, the exhibition featured lesser-known historical stories and places that have faded over time or remain unfamiliar to many. Historical artworks and representations of old Chattogram offered visitors a glimpse into the city’s past and its evolution over the years.

A key highlight was the “SEYLON Amar Shahar Special Personality Honour”, which recognised individuals whose contributions have enriched Chattogram’s identity, culture and society.

The honourees included Ekushey Padak recipient MA Malek, journalist and editor of Dainik Azadi; Ekushey Padak recipient Abul Momen, journalist; Zarina Hossain, architect and urban planner; Delwar Hossain Mazumder, urban planner; and Harun Rashid, writer and researcher.

Brig Gen (retd) Shahidullah Chowdhury, executive director of Abul Khair Group, attended the event, along with business leaders, cultural personalities, content creators, campaign winners and other guests.
