SQ Group wins three ESG Excellence awards
SQ Group, the Bangladesh manufacturing arm of Singapore-based Q Collection, has received three honours at Bangladesh's inaugural ESG Excellence Awards, recognising its progress in sustainability, inclusion and workforce development.
The recognition comprises two gold awards and a jury's special award, the group said in a press statement issued recently. The event, jointly organised by the 𝐔𝐍 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐍𝐞𝐭𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐁𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐒𝐆 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞, was held in Dhaka on 5 September.
The SQ Group received the “Gold Award – Sector Leader” in the “Excellence in ESG Strategy & Policy Implementation” category.
As per the press statement, the award recognised the group’s work to strengthen ESG governance and implement its environmental and social management system across operations, alongside continued investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy.
The company bagged a second “Gold Award – Sector Leader” in the “Excellence in Gender Equity & Women Leadership Advancement” category.
It said the award recognised SQ Group's efforts to create stronger pathways for women within manufacturing.
The group’s “Female Supervisor Programme” supports women in progressing from factory-floor roles into supervisory and leadership positions, complemented by day-care facilities and dedicated facilities for new mothers, it added.
The group also received the “Jury’s Special Award – Outstanding Story” in the “Excellence in Skills Development & Workforce Upskilling” category.
The award highlights its investment in structured training and the Integrated Digital Academy, its digital learning platform, the SQ said, adding that the initiative is designed to strengthen technical, digital and leadership capabilities as manufacturing becomes increasingly technology driven.
SQ Group described the awards as a milestone in a longer-term ESG commitment, which the company says it treats not as a reporting or compliance requirement but as part of building a more responsible, inclusive and competitive manufacturing business.
“The breadth of the recognition is significant. Rather than rewarding a single sustainability initiative, the three honours span how the group operates, how it creates opportunities for women, and how it prepares its people for the future,” reads the press statement.
