Eastern Bank to facilitate secure online payments for Air Astra

Eastern Bank PLC (EBL) has signed an agreement with Air Astra, a privately owned airline based in Bangladesh, to become the online payment gateway partner for its digital ticketing platform, enabling secure, seamless, and convenient payment solutions for online ticket purchases.

M Khorshed Anowar, deputy managing director and head of retail and SME banking at the bank, and Mesbah-ul Islam, chief commercial officer of the airline, signed the agreement at the bank’s head office in Dhaka recently, according to a press release.

Through this partnership, EBL further strengthens its position as a leading provider of digital financial services, offering passengers a safe, reliable, and hassle-free payment experience.

The collaboration will enhance Air Astra’s online booking experience by ensuring faster, more convenient, and secure transactions for travellers.

Ahmed Shaheen, additional managing director of the bank; Ahsan Ullah Chowdhury, head of digital financial services; and Faisal M Fathe Ul Islam, head of digital payments, attended the event.

Md Shafiul Asgar, chief financial officer of the airline, was also present at the signing ceremony, along with other officials from both organisations.
