IFIC Bank holds BAMLCO conference
IFIC Bank PLC has organised a daylong “Branch Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer (BAMLCO) Conference 2026” to enhance the knowledge, awareness and professional capabilities of officials regarding anti-money laundering (AML) and combating the financing of terrorism (CFT).
Syed Mansur Mustafa, managing director of the bank, inaugurated the conference at its head office in Dhaka on Saturday, according to a press release.
He emphasised compliance with directives from Bangladesh Bank and the Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.
Mustafa also called for strengthening risk-based supervision, customer due diligence and compliance activities at branch and sub-branch levels.
Md Monitur Rahman, deputy managing director, chief information officer and chief anti-money laundering compliance officer (CAMLCO), attended the programme as the special guest.
The conference covered laws and regulations on preventing money laundering and terrorist financing, directives issued by the central bank and BFIU, identification and reporting of suspicious transactions, risk-based customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence and transaction monitoring.
IFIC Bank said regular training, conferences and awareness-building initiatives would strengthen its AML/CFT compliance framework and enhance officials’ capacity to prevent financial crimes.
BAMLCOs from branches across the country participated in the conference.
Among others, Helal Ahmed, chief of branch business and head of operations at IFIC Bank; Abul Kashem Md Fazlul Kader, head of service and estate; Md Abdullah Al Masum, head of correspondent banking, joint venture operations and remittance department; and ABM Mohsin Kamal Molla, deputy CAMLCO and head of AML and CFT, were present.
