NCC Bank, GP explore tie-up for smart banking

NCC Bank PLC and Grameenphone Ltd are working on a strategic partnership to drive digital transformation, enhance technological capabilities and ensure innovative digital services for the bank’s customers.

The potential collaboration will focus on digital payments, technology-driven financial services, customer experience enhancement and various initiatives supporting Bangladesh’s journey towards a cashless economy.

M Shamsul Arefin, managing director of the bank, and Yasir Azman, chief executive officer of the country’s leading telecom operator, recently held a meeting at GP’s head office in Dhaka, according to a press release.

Discussions covered the strategic goals, technological capabilities, digital ecosystems and potential areas of collaboration for both organisations.

Commenting on the partnership, Shamsul Arefin said, “This collaboration with Grameenphone further strengthens NCC Bank’s commitment to delivering world-class banking services.”

“We believe this joint initiative will play a positive role in Bangladesh’s journey towards a digital and cashless economy,” he added.

Yasir said, “Digital services are playing a crucial role in making people’s lives easier and more connected. Our collaboration with NCC Bank will create new opportunities to develop more innovative, convenient and technology-driven financial services for customers.”

“By bringing together Grameenphone’s extensive digital ecosystem and NCC Bank’s banking capabilities, we aim to support the development of solutions that provide customers with secure and seamless digital payment experiences,” he added.

Md Zakir Anam, additional managing director of the bank; Md Habibur Rahman, deputy managing director; Md Sajjadul Islam, senior vice-president and head of ICT; and SM Tanvir Hasan, unit head and retail and DFS business unit, attended the event.

M Shaon Azad, head of large accounts of the telecom operator; Mahbubur Rahman, head of large account 4; Sumaiya Tarannum, key account manager; and Md Mahbubul Alam Bhuiyan, head of product, partnership and operations, along with other senior officials from both organisations, were also present.
