ICAB, 25 institutions sign addenda to expand academic collaboration

Expanded agreements will allow eligible graduates to benefit from prior-learning credits and paper exemptions

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB)-Public and Private Universities Signing Ceremony 2026 was held yesterday, at the ICAB Auditorium, 9th Floor, CA Bhaban, Dhaka.

According to the press release, authorised representatives of 25 public and private universities and institutions signed addenda to their existing Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with ICAB, marking a significant step towards strengthening collaboration between academia and the accountancy profession.

Under the enhanced collaboration, ICAB and the participating institutions will work together to attract meritorious graduates and postgraduates to the Chartered Accountancy (CA) profession by facilitating Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) and exemptions in relevant papers of the CA programme, where applicable.

The initiative will provide eligible graduates with a more streamlined pathway towards the CA qualification, the press release added.

The collaboration will also create opportunities for partly qualified and qualified ICAB members to pursue university degrees, higher education and research programmes, where appropriate. The institutions will further explore joint research, academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Speaking at the programme, ICAB President Sabbir Ahmed FCA, Vice President Mohammad Redwanur Rahman FCA and Director, Education and Examination Directorate, Masud Parvez FCA highlighted the importance of closer cooperation between universities and the accountancy profession in developing competent, ethical and future-ready professionals.

The initiative reflects ICAB’s continued commitment to strengthening professional education, expanding pathways into the CA profession and building stronger linkages between higher education and professional accountancy in Bangladesh.
