250km fuel pipeline for Dhaka, Ctg by 2017
The government has undertaken a project to install a 250km long petroleum fuel pipeline between Chittagong and Dhaka at a cost of Tk 1,200 crore.
"We have undertaken the project to save Tk 130 crore annually and ensure fuel security," said Energy and Mineral Resources Secretary Abubakar Siddique yesterday.
The direct petroleum fuel pipeline would supply imported fuel and crude oil from Chittagong to the capital city, he said.
Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) will implement the project, which is expected to be completed in 2017. Appointment of the consultant for the project is underway.
Besides, the energy and mineral resources division has undertaken another project to install 16km long pipeline from Kanchan Bridge to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport with an estimated cost of Tk 40 crore, said the secretary.
He also said the government has prepared a document targeting to complete the project by 2016 to save Tk 24 crore annually.
