9 buses gutted in depot fire in Chattogram

At least nine buses kept in a depot of Bagdad Paribahan at Colonel Hat in Chattogram city were gutted in a fire this afternoon.

The fire originated in the depot around 1:15pm, said Newton Das, deputy assistant director of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Chittagong.

Contacted, Sohel Iqbal, general manager of Bagdad Group, said these buses were out of order and kept in the depot for years.

On information, four units of firefighters rushed to the spot and doused the blaze around 3:00pm, he said, adding that nine of the 11 buses kept in the depot were gutted in the fire.

The origin of the fire could not be known immediately.

"We have lodged a general diary with Akbar Shah Police Station in the city in this connection," the GM of Bagdad Group said.
