Birth anniversary of Justice Abu Sayeed today

Today is the 94th birth anniversary of late Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury, the second president of Bangladesh, says a press release.

Justice Chowdhury was born in a respectable Muslim family of Nagbari in Tangail. He was the son of former speaker of erstwhile Provincial Assembly late Abdul Hamid Chowdhury.

He played a significant role in mobilising world opinion for the cause of Bangladesh as special envoy of the provisional government.

In 1985 he was elected chairman of UN Human Rights Commission.

Justice Abu Sayeed Chowdhury National Memorial Council arranged a memorial meeting and Heritage Archives organised various programmes to mark his birth anniversary.
