DB sub-inspector closed for link with businessman's abduction
A detective branch's sub-inspector was withdrawn recently for his alleged involvement in an abduction of a businessman that took place in capital's Keraniganj on May 23.
The cop, Mashiur Rahman, was seen several times with the abductors and actions will be taken if he is found guilty in further investigation, said Police Superintendent of Dhaka District Police Habibur Rahman.
Victim's family said a gang impersonating detective police picked up businessman Noor Uddin in a private car and later did not release Noor, despite taking Tk 30,000 from the family.
Rab officials rescued Noor from an abandoned building in Model Town area and arrested an "abductor, Tony", who admitted that the handcuff they put on Noor was given by Mashiur.
