DCC to accord reception to Hasina Monday

Two days after the reception by the ruling Awami League, the two city corporations will accord a reception to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for receiving the United Nations' highest environmental accolade.

Dhaka South and North will jointly organise the programme on Monday at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban. 

Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Annisul Huq confirmed this while talking to The Daily Star.

"We decided to accord a reception to her [Hasina] after consulting with her before she left for the US," he said.

Besides, AL will hold its reception on Saturday, the day the premier returns to the country.

Hasina received United Nations' "Champions of the Earth" award in recognition of Bangladesh's initiatives on climate change, and "ICT Sustainable Development Award" for her contribution to Information Communication and Technology.
