Death anniversary
Today is the second death anniversary of noted bureaucrat Sultan-uz Zaman Khan.
He entered the Civil Service of Pakistan in 1955. During his career of over 30 years he served as the district commissioner of Jessore, followed by being the commissioner of Khulna Division in 1970.
After the liberation of Bangladesh, he served as the secretary to the Shipping, Inland Waterways and Aviation Ministry in 1973, and as a senior official of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok from 1977 to 1992.
He was the first chairman of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Bangladesh between 1993 and 1996.
