Every upazila to get technical education centre
LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Engineer Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain yesterday said technical education centres would be set up in all upazilas to develop skilled manpower in the country.
Currently, about five lakh people are going abroad from Bangladesh to work every year, he said speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organised by the Ministry of Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment in the capital marking International Migrants Day 2015.
Presided over by Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by State Minister for Foreign Affairs M Shahriar Alam, and International Labour Organization Mission Chief Sharat Chandra Das.Mosharraf exchanged views with Bangladeshi migrant workers in Oman through videoconferencing.
In the function, Khandaker Mosharraf handed over stipend to children of migrant workers. Earlier, a colourful procession was brought out from in front of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban and it ended at Bangabandhu International Convention Centre, where a fair for migrants is taking place.
