A hundred and one student leaders of the 1980s yesterday criticised filing of cases against The Daily Star Editor and Publisher Mahfuz Anam across the country.

In a statement, they said Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina had called the 1/11 government a result of their movement. "Coming to power, Sheikh Hasina gave approval to all the misdeeds of the 1/11 government in the first session of parliament," said the statement, signed by the coordinator of the ex-leaders, Sarwar Azam Khan.

They also said the government is attacking the media now like it did in 1975.
