Gazipur couple commit suicide as parents refuse to accept marriage

A couple yesterday allegedly committed suicide by hanging from a mango tree in Gazipur's Kaliganj upazila as the family of the male partner refused to accept the marriage.

According to police and locals, Laila Akhter, 30, married Alamgir Hossain, 24, about a month ago after divorcing her previous husband. They often quarrelled over the issue that Alamgir's family was not accepting Laila.

Kaliganj police recovered the bodies. An unnatural death case was filed.
