Govt pry school heads of Ctg cut classes for status upgrade

The headmasters of government primary schools of Chittagong district yesterday started their work stoppage programme to press home their demand for upgrade into class 2 gazetted officials from the existing class 3 employees and upgrade into the 10th grade from the 12th grade in the payscale.

Under the banner of "Association of Headmasters of Bangladesh Government Primary Schools, the headmasters will observe work stoppage from 9:00am to 12 noon till October 5 in all primary schools in the district, said Convener Kaiserul Alam of the association's Chittagong district unit.

They also threatened to go on an indefinite work abstention from October 6 and boycott their duties during Primary School Certificate Examinations scheduled for November to fulfil their demands.
