JP leader Mazibar Rahman passes away
Until his last breath at the early hour of yesterday, former Jatiya Party MP Mazibar Rahman thought about the welfare of people of his constituency -- Aditmari and Kaliganj upazilas in Lalmonirhat -- from where he was elected for seven times.
Known as a pro-people and an honest politician, Mazibar died of old age complications at his Gulshan residence in Dhaka, aged 80.
He left behind his wife, three sons and two daughters.
People of the upazilas gave back their love to the school teacher-turned politician with huge presence at his namaz-e-janaza at the playground of Bhadai GS High School, founded by the JP presidium member, reports our correspondent.
Mazibar also established nine other educational institutions in two upazilas and neither of those was named after him or his parents.
Abu Hasnat Rana, a teacher of Bhadai school, said over 200 teachers were teaching nearly 6,000 students in the 10 educational institutions and Mazibur Rahman did not take any money from any teachers during their appointments.
He was buried at Aditmari upazila's central graveyard last afternoon.
Mazibur Rahman was the headmaster of Bhadai GS High School from 1967 to 1974. In 1973, he became the chairman of Bhadai Union Parishad and later became Aditmari upazila chairman in 1985.
In 1979, he first became MP from BNP. In the January 5 national elections in 2014, he did not submit nomination paper following his party's decision. A section of JP leaders, including its chief HM Ershad, however, later participated in the polls.
