Man confesses to recording video of ex-colleagues changing clothes
A former employee of a popular clothing store, who was arrested on charges of recording video of one of his colleagues while she was changing clothes, confessed to the magistrate today.
The arrestee, Shirajul Islam alias Sajib, told the magistrate that he used to record such videos with a phone, attached to a selfie stick, inserted through the ventilator of the dressing room.
“I recorded a total of eight videos of several female employees including the complainant,” Sajib said in his confessional statement recorded by Metropolitan Magistrate Dhiman Chandra Mondol at his chamber.
He also said he blackmailed the complainant into chatting with him, threatening to release the video if she did not.
After recording his statement in the case filed under the Digital Security Act, the magistrate ordered him to be sent to Keraniganj Central Jail.
The victim had filed the complaint with Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s cyber crime unit on January 16. Officials of cyber crime unit arrested Sajib on Saturday from East Shewrapara of Dhaka’s Kafrul area.
