Online payment for pensioners mulled

The government has undertaken a plan to send pension money to bank accounts of pensioners directly through electric fund transfer.

Under the automated online system, pensioners will be informed through SMSs on mobile phones when pension money will reach their bank accounts, said an official release yesterday.

To develop the system, it is necessary to make an information hub so that a pensioner can submit photocopy of national identity card and pension payment order (PPO) book at the accounts' offices or banks concerned.

Then the accounts office or bank will upload information of the pensioner on the website www.payfixation.gov.bd.pension.

After fixation of pensions of retired civil and military pensioners as per national pay-scale 2015, an auto-generated pensioner identification number will be available, which must be written on the PPO book of the pensioner.
