PM to pay homage today
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay homage to the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, on the occasion of his 40th death anniversary and National Mourning Day today.
Hasina will first place wreaths on the portrait of the great leader at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the capital's Dhanmondi at 6:30am.
A contingent of Bangladesh Armed Forces will give a guard of honour to the premier while a munajat will be offered there too.
Then, Hasina place wreaths on the graves of her family members, including her mother and Bangabandhu's wife Bangamata Fazilatunnesa Mujib, and brothers Sheikh Kamal, Sheikh Jamal and Sheikh Russell, who were assassinated along with Bangabandhu on August 15, 1975, in Banani Graveyard and also offer surah Fatiha.
She will then fly to Tungipara and place wreaths at the Mazar of Bangabandhu, offer surah Fatiha and attend a munajat. Another contingent of the Armed Forces will give a guard of honour to the prime minister there.
She will then attend a milad and a doa mahfil at the Mazar Complex.
After returning to Dhaka, Hasina will attend another milad mahfil to be organised by Mohila Awami League at Bangabandhu Bhaban in Dhanmondi after Asr prayers.
