Rajuk reclaims more parking lots, roads, footpaths

Three teams of Rajuk cleared illegally occupied car parking spaces at over a dozen buildings in Gulshan, Uttara and Dhanmondi in the capital yesterday. 

The Dhanmondi team knocked down illegal set ups at six buildings on Panthapath, said Md Nasir Uddin, executive magistrate, and penalised the offenders Tk 3 lakh.

Khandokar Zakir Hossain, executive magistrate, said the Uttara team knocked down a ceramic products showroom in place of a basement parking and penalised a pharmacy owner Tk 1 lakh for illegally occupying a ground floor parking space on Gausul Azam Avenue.   

The Gulshan team cleared unauthorised shops and over half a dozen access ramps built blocking the sidewalks and occupying road width, from road-2 in J block of Baridhara, said Md Abdul Hamid Mian, executive magistrate.   

Rajuk launched the eviction drive simultaneously in Dhanmondi, Uttara and Gulshan on January 18 in a bid to recover designated car parking spaces and remove illegal access ramps built occupying footpaths and road width.
