Road accidents kill two

Two people were killed in road accidents in two districts on Wednesday, according to reports from our correspondents.

Our Patuakhali correspondent reports, a truck driver was killed as the truck loaded with rods fell into a ditch in Barguna's Patharghata upazila at night.

The accident took place near Abdus Salam Ideal Madrasa in Patharghata Municipality. The deceased was identified as Abu Bakar (30) , said Patharghata Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Shahabuddin.

Abu Bakar's assistant Naeem said the accident happened while the vehicle was being loaded with rods in Kakchira area. The trucker died on the spot.

Our Dinajpur correspondent adds, a truck hit a motorcycle from the opposite direction on Dinajpur-Gobindaganj regional highway at Laxmipur village in Phulbari upazila, leaving the biker dead.

Lebu Islam (25) from Stationpara in Phulbari died on the spot, said Phulbari Police Station OC Fakhrul Islam.
