Road crashes kill 11, injure 23

Eleven people, including two of a family, were killed and 23 others injured in road accidents in six districts yesterday and on Saturday.

In Munshiganj, three people, including two of a family, were killed and two others injured when a car fell into a ditch beside Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Dariboushia of Gazaria yesterday.

The deceased were Ratan Das, 30, his sister-in-law Kajol Rani Das, 18, and car driver Sazal Das, 25.

In Comilla, three people were killed and 13 others injured when bus hit a road divider and turned turtle on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Training Centre area of Choddogram upazila on Saturday.

The deceased were Sanwar Hosen, 50, of Jamalpur, Omar Faruk, 29, of Adra village and Mazura Begam, 56, of Krishnapur village.

In Mymensingh, four people, including three school kids, were injured when a car rammed a rickshaw-van carrying them on Mymensingh-Tangail road in Boleswar area of Muktagacha upazila yesterday.

In Natore Sadar upazila, Mohammad Ali, 35, of Kamardiyar village was killed when his motorcycle collided head-on with an auto-rickshaw in Chalkrampur area yesterday.

In Barisal, two motorcyclists were killed when a bus hit their vehicle on Barisal-Ujirpur road in Dutteswar area of Ujirpur Upazila yesterday.

The deceased were Mostafa Howlader, 18, and Hasan Sharif, 22, of East Dhamura.

In Noakhali, Siraj Mia, 55, of Lakshmipur was killed and four others were injured when a CNG-run auto-rickshaw collided head-on at Banglabazar in Begamganj upazila yesterday.

Meanwhile in Noakhali Sadar, Rowshan Akhter, 45, was killed when a battery-run auto-rickshaw ran her over in Eoazbalia area yesterday.
