Road crashes kill 5
Five people were killed and 23 others injured in road accidents in three districts yesterday and Tuesday.
Our Rangpur correspondent reports, Abdul Jalil, 45, of Islampur-Mandolpara village was killed when a microbus ran him over while he was crossing Rangpur-Dhaka highway in front of Shah Amanat Filling Station in Mithapukur upazila on Tuesday.
In Rangpur city, Abdus Sattar, 50, of Charan village was killed and five people were injured as they fell from the roof of a bus after it hit the road-divider while trying to save a bicycle on RK road in Madhya Babukha area yesterday.
In the same upazila, 10 passengers of a three-wheeler were injured when a truck collided head-on with it on Rangpur-Dhaka highway in front of Piraband Union Parishad office yesterday.
Our Pabna correspondent reports, two people were killed and three others injured as a pick-up van hit an auto-rickshaw on Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway in Tarash upazila of Sirajganj yesterday.
The deceased were Shaheb Ali, 40, and Milon Hossain, 32, of Hamkuria village.
Our Bogra correspondent reports, Masud Rana, 38, of Gazaria village was killed and five people were injured when a bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Bogra-Shariakandi road at Kathaltola in Shariakandi upazila on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, our staff correspondent report, a Kashimpur jail-bound prison van, carrying 18 Jama'tul Mujahideen Bangladesh inmates, ploughed though a footpath after a wheel of the vehicle went off in the capital's Airport area yesterday. None was injured in the incident.
